Dovile Martinaityte Tarallo is a Lithuanian photographer and visual artist currently based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her artistic practice has developed across various cultural contexts over the past decade, shaped by life in multiple countries and an ongoing reflection on the experience of in-betweenness- between identities, meanings, and systems of belonging.
Her work engages with the performativity of identity, the internalization of cultural codes, and the subtle interplay between inner autonomy and external affiliation. She approaches identity not as a static construct but as something liminal- fluid, emergent, and situated in a constant negotiation between being and becoming.
Deeply attuned to interior states, her creative process is intuitive and contemplative, marked by an acute sensitivity to silence, tension, rhythm, and suspension. Over the years, she has cultivated a visual language that traces these intangible states as they manifest through the body and the image. In recent years, she has begun integrating photography with painting. The shift in medium marked a quiet turning point in her practice.
Her work has been exhibited in Lithuania, Italy, and Switzerland, including the 2020 project Sky is the Body at “Meno parkas” gallery in Kaunas.
